Overview

About this product

Wax Solution is a paraffin wax dissolved in styrene used as a surface sealing additive for polyester and vinyl ester resin systems. When added to laminating resin or gelcoat, the wax migrates to the surface during curing to form an air barrier. This prevents oxygen inhibition and allows the resin to fully cure to a hard, tack free finish.

Wax in styrene is commonly used when applying finishing layers of polyester resin or flowcoat in fibreglass fabrication, mould production and repair work.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Creates an air barrier during resin curing
  • Allows polyester resin to cure to a hard tack free surface
  • Suitable for polyester and vinyl ester resin systems
  • Improves finishing layers of laminating resin
  • Easy to mix into resin formulations

COMMON APPLICATIONS:

  • Finishing coats of polyester laminating resin
  • Fibreglass mould production
  • Composite fabrication and repair work
  • Flowcoat and resin finishing layers

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Add wax solution to polyester resin systems before catalyst is introduced. Typical addition rates range from 1 to 3 percent depending on application and resin formulation. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution before adding catalyst.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
Do not mix wax solution directly with MEKP catalyst. Always add wax solution to the resin before catalyst is introduced. Wear appropriate protective equipment and ensure adequate ventilation when working with fibreglass resins and additives.
